    Lori Myers

As a child of the 60s, my earliest thoughts and ideas were influenced by a generation that challenged everything - civil rights, fashion, music, politics, religion, and war. Add to that, some second wave feminism that reinforced my position that being a ‘girl’ is never an obstacle.  Resisting status quo, bucking the norm, speaking my mind, standing for a cause – all traits formed in my early years.

My love of books began as a child.  My first trip to the library stays with me to this day – the smell of the books, the different shapes, sizes and feel of the bindings and covers, the look of the inside cover stamped with the date when book was due back (old school). One of my first loves was, “Harold and the Purple Crayon” by Crocket Johnson.  Through Harold’s adventures I believed then (and still do today) that all things are possible!

Tempered over time by responsibilities, experiences, and knowledge, I approach life with the same passion of my youth, yet with wisdom gained in my travels.  I am self-reflective by nature and innately curious.  Combine that with my love of family, faith, history, and the power of words I aspire to write stories and poems that reflect all my loves.

Outside her career in information technology, Lori is a coach who focuses on helping others discover their potential by exploring possibilities.

Lori's poetry and short stories have also appeared in the Montreat and Belmont Abbey College literary magazines.
