It is a Gift to Yourself!
"I love this place! It's actually an island - 10 miles around and surrounded by water. I guess it has to be surrounded by water to call it an island. Ironic that Carol was reading a poem today from a lady in Michigan.
This place I love so much is about 5 minutes from downtown Detroit. It is the most serene place I know. Often, me and my mother would go out there to feed the deer that came out of the woods during the winter. It amazed me now that the 'Southern' folks hunt and eat these animals.
On this island, the deer would come up and eat bread out of your hands. When they did come, out they came out in droves, sometimes 20 at a time. All colors and some even had antlers. This is the winter memory.
In the summer, this place is rocking! Not only did everyone want to cruise around the island blasting music or making videos, some kept chairs or blankets in their car for an impromptu picnic or just have lunch.
It is a wonderful place to have serenity and think about loved ones that I have spent so much time with here. Especially my Mom!
May she Rest in Peace!"
